Wij selecteerde vier heerlijke winterse cocktails. Cheers!

🚨 star anise garnish alert 🚨 . I know it’s kinda overdone in the Fall season, but I just can’t help myself. The things just look so cool and they go well with this cocktail ⭐️ . I got a couple of bottles of Aquavit as a thank-you gift for a recent shoot, so thought I should try some out in a cocktail. . For those unfamiliar with the spirit, Aquavit is a neutral grain spirit that’s been flavored with various herbs, spices and botanicals– primarily caraway and dill. It’s traditionally from Scandinavian countries, but I used the ever popular Krogstad Aquavit from @housespiritsdistillery right here in Portland, OR (which happens to be pretty anise-forward). . The below cocktail is basically a Nordic-redux of @deathandconyc’s “Get Lucky”… . Bli Heldig . 1 ½ oz Krogstad Aquavit (@housespiritsdistillery) ½ oz Etrog liqueur (@sukkahhillspirits) ¾ oz ginger liqueur (@newdealpdx) ¾ oz fresh lemon juice ½ oz orgeat ¼ oz honey syrup Peychaud’s bitters Blackberries & star anise . Add 3 blackberries to the bottom of a pilsner glass and gently muddle. Rotate the glass to coat the sides then add crushed ice. Combine ingredients in a shaker, shake with ice and strain into the prepared glass. Top with a thin layer of Peychaud’s bitters, a skewered blackberry and star anise ✌🏼 . #highproofpreacher

It’s amazing how quickly the transition to Fall hits. I’m not just talking about the change in weather but also people’s attitudes. We only get a few months of sun in Portland and it’s amazing, but every year around September/October everyone starts getting super excited about pulling out their beanies and flannels and getting “cozy.” . I love summer weather (and summer drinks!) but even I’m starting to get in the Fall-mood. So here’s my first October drink recipe for you to sip by the fireplace 🔥 . When I was work-shopping this drink I first made it with bourbon but I strangely prefer it with a quality aged rum👌🏼 . Bull of the Woods . 1½ oz aged rum (@granderrum) ½ oz smoke tea liqueur (@thomasandsonsdistillery) ¾ oz apple brandy (@lairdsapplejack) ½ tsp Demerara syrup 2 dashes orange bitters (@thebitterhousewife) . Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and stir with ice. Strain into a chilled coupe. Flame an orange peel and add to drink. . #highproofpreacher
