Verlaat Amy Schumer écht de VS na overwinning Trump?

Amy Schumer liet eens vallen dat ze naar Spanje zou verhuizen als Donald Trump de Amerikaanse presidentsverkiezingen zou winnen. Nu dat eenmaal een feit is, komt de comédienne daar echter op terug.

Op Instagram laat Amy weten dat ze niet van plan is om Amerika te verlaten. Integendeel, ze schrijft dat ze landgenoten die dat wel doen zelfs “even verwerpelijk vindt als de mensen die hebben gekozen voor deze racistische, homofobe en openlijk respectloze vrouwenmisbruiker”.

In het betoog laat ze bovendien weten dat haar hart in een miljoen stukjes was nadat de uitslag bekend was gemaakt. Bij haar verhaal op social media plaatst ze een foto van Trump waarop ook een quote van hem staat. Hij zou Republikeinen de domste groep stemmers vinden die er bestaat. Het is echter een uitspraak die hij nooit deed, wat Amy onderaan haar betoog ook erkent. “Ik weet dat de quote nep is, maar dat maakt niet uit.”

In een interview met BBC kreeg Amy een aantal maanden geleden de vraag wat ze zou doen als Trump de verkiezingen zou winnen. “Mijn act zou aangepast moeten worden,” zei ze, “want ik zou Spaans moeten spreken omdat ik naar Spanje verhuis.”

People asked how much I was paid to stand with her. Nothing. None of us were paid a dollar. We would have had to pay a lot more because we are fortunate enough to make a high income. But we all wanted to do it to take care of the people in need. She was fighting to take care of you kicking and screaming babies. Yelling about emails you know nothing about and not liking her clothes or her hair she wanted to protect you even you. Well you’ve gotten what you asked for and now you can watch the sky open up. Literally. I am furious. I cry for her and for all the smart people I love who know what’s right and I cry for you people who fell for shiny hats and reality catch phrases.
